Stance Performance Fitting Inc. is a clinic-based retailer located in downtown Collingwood, Ontario. We were created with a clear desire to deliver comfort and performance, one foot at a time. We offer customized performance fitting for all athletic abilities in ski, bike, golf, and racquet sports.

Since we opened our doors in 2023, we’ve been committed to providing our customers with the best possible service so they can discover their potential and perform with comfort.

Our team has over 25 years of international experience in performance fitting, from Revelstoke to Chamonix, and everywhere in between.

    Danielle “Danny”: Life-long skier, former racer and coach. Has a BA in Outdoor Recreation and Leisure Studies from Brock University.

    Kai - Owner of Stance Performance Fitting. Life-long skier, expert boot fitter with decades of international experience, entrepreneur, inventor, Molly’s owner.

    Lucas - Life-long skier and snowboarder, competitive mountain biker, sailed the Caribbean during the pandemic.

    Age... 2-ish. Breed... Husky-ish. Molly is our head of HR and she does a good job...ish. She is not only our mascot but also your emotional support animal...ish. Vicious...ly cute and cuddly. You will often find her sunning herself in the front window or stealing seats from customers who are up on our stand getting their injection inners done.

Our Story

Kai Palkeinen’s extensive journey through the ski industry, his personal experiences, and his passion led him to establish Stance Performance Fitting Inc.

EARLY BEGINNINGS

  • Grew up skiing on the Niagara Escarpment

  • Moved to British Columbia after university for eight years and spent time skiing throughout the interior and into northern British Columbia, Yukon, and Alaska.

  • His passion for boot fitting was ignited by his own frustrations and experience working with some of the industries most reputable retailers and boot fitters.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Lived, worked, and skied throughout Europe in La Grave, Saint Anton, Lech, Verbier, and Chamonix.

  • Made Chamonix his permanent home for years where he ran a fitting location that catered to elite level athletes.

  • Worked in Italy in various stages of product development of ski industry manufacturing.

CAREER SHIFT

  • Returned to Canada with thoughts of retiring from the ski industry and worked as a remote access paramedic in areas of British Columbia, Yukon, and Africa.

  • Settled in Revelstoke, British Columbia where he identified a market gap for high-quality boot fitting.

  • Opened Pulse Boot Lab in 2015 and rapidly grew the business over the next two years.

REFINEMENT OF BOOT FITTING

  • Innovated the boot fitting process with scientific methods rather than antiquated tools and guesswork.

  • His frustration with the status quo led to the development of tools, products, processes, and procedures.

  • Sold Pulse Boot Lab in 2020 and mentored the new owners for a few years.

  • Returned to his roots in Southern Ontario to open his own store in Collingwood.

ESTABLISHMENT OF STANCE PERFORMACE FITTING INC.

  • Stance Performance Fitting represents the culmination of expertise, tools, personnel, and an intimate understanding of equipment design and its intended use.

  • We continually strive to make improvements that prioritize skiers.

  • Kai visits Europe twice a year to work alongside manufacturers and develop their own products. He keeps in contact with the leading edge of what’s happening in Europe and brings it back to Canada, inherently staying one step ahead of the industry.
